Commitment
We are committed to delivering patient care sustainability, financial sustainability and environmental sustainability to our 3,000 customers nation-wide. While shipping products across the U.S. is fundamental to our business model, there are many things we can do to minimize our impact and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. One way we are reducing our impact is through a carbon neutral inbound shipping program with our logistics partner.
Logistics partner
We ship thousands of packages a day from hospitals to our reprocessing facilities. To offset the emissions from this process, we pay per package to participate in the carbon neutral inbound shipping program, which decreases our organization’s carbon footprint and demonstrates a commitment to the environment. Each of these packages helps fund projects around the world dedicated to carbon capturing or another form of carbon offset.
Projects funded
Stryker helped fund three major projects through this program in 2019. These projects reduce carbon emissions in the atmosphere in a few ways: forest conservation, capturing landfill gas and capturing biogas! These projects and their environmental impact include:
Darkwoods Forest Conservation
British Columbia, Canada
- Annual Emissions Reductions: 124,847 MT
- Protects over 135,000 acres of forest
Wolf Creek Landfill Gas Capture
Georgia, USA
- Annual Emissions Reductions: over 130,000 MT
- Generates enough electricity to power over 1,600 homes
Chol Charoen Biogas Capture
Cholburi, Thailand
- Annual Emissions Reductions: 37,292 MT
- Generates 45 MW of heat and 15 MW of electricity
